The Eastern Africa Association of Prosecutors Annual Conference 2026 and 11th Annual General Meeting convened a high-level engagement on 4th May 2026 in Dar es Salaam, United Republic of Tanzania, bringing together Heads of Delegation from across the region and key development partners, including IDLO, TRAFFIC International, SECFIN Africa and EUROJUST. The Conference was held under the theme “Leveraging Technology in Combating Wildlife and Transnational Organised Crime”, highlighting the role of innovation in addressing evolving criminal threats.
Welcoming remarks were delivered by Hon. Sylvester A. Mwakitalu, DPP Tanzania and EAAP Treasurer, followed by opening remarks from Mr. Renson M. Ingonga, CBS, OGW, DPP Kenya and EAAP President, emphasizing strengthened regional cooperation. The Guest of Honour was welcomed by Dr. Juma Zuberi Homera (MP), Minister for Constitutional and Legal Affairs, Tanzania.
The Conference was officially opened through a keynote address by Hon. Dr. Mwigulu Lameck Nchemba, the Prime Minister of the United Republic of Tanzania. The primary objective of the Conference was to convene Heads of Delegation and development partners to foster dialogue, share best practices, and strengthen collaborative frameworks aimed at enhancing prosecutorial effectiveness in addressing complex and cross-border crimes. The meeting further sought to deepen strategic partnerships, promote knowledge exchange, and align regional efforts with global best practices in the fight against organised crime.
